Fennesz / Mahler Remixed
2011年5月にウィーンのRadiokulturhausで、Fenneszはグスタフ・マーラーの交響曲のサンプルで構成された「Mahler Remixed」のライブパフォーマンスを映像アーティストLillevän（Fenneszのほかに、Vladislav Delay、Schneider TM、Poleなどとの共演もあり）と共に行った。以後、同様のパフォーマンスは世界の数か所でも行われているが、この最初のパフォーマンス時の音源が去年、Bandcampでも公開されている。そして、それが遂にアナログレコードというフィジカル・フォーマットでの発売となる。一部の楽曲には、昨年発売のアルバム「becs」の中の「liminality」の原型を見てとることもできる。Fenneszならではの電子の海原の深き紺碧の底に、蒼きマーラーの苦悩を感じながら、現代ドイツに忍び寄る冷たく矛盾に満ちた冬に思いをはせてみるのもよいかも知れない。
In May of the year 2011, at Radiokulturhaus, Vienna, Fennesz with Lillevän, a visual artist who has also done many collaborative works with artists other from Fennesz, like Vladislav Delay, Schneider TM, and Pole, have performed “Mahler Remixed” which consists of samples taken from Gustav Mahler’s symphonies. Then this same performance has been done in several cities around the world, and the recording of their first show became available on Bandcamp recently. And now, it will be released physically in a vinyl format. In this composition, you may find early forms and hints of “liminality” from Fennesz’s latest album, “becs” that has been released last year. Feel the anguish of Mahler in blue, sinking down to the azure-depth of Fennesz’s electronic ocean, and imagine how cold and paradoxical the winter of today’s Germany would be.
