現在、ダブテクノ界の重鎮としても知られているDeepchordの2000年にリリースされたEPのリマスター版。先行でヴァイナルでのリリースがあったが、そのCD版が発売された。2000年当時のDeepchordはRod ModellとMike Schommer（現在は脱退している）によるユニットで、リリースされたEPにはそれぞれ個人による楽曲がスプリット的に収録されている。今回のCDでは「dcv07」「dcv08」「dcv09」のEP楽曲が収録されており、下記のような並びとなっている（ヴァイナルでは曲順が若干違う）。

CDの冒頭は先行ヴァイナルとは違い、Imaxの比較的オーソドックスなダブテクノな曲で始まる。ヴァイナルでは、Von Schommerのアトモスフェリックではあるが、ミニマルな硬派なビートの曲から始まるので、やはりこの曲順の変更はCDについてはリスニングを意識したからなのだろうか？そしてCDの２曲目は軽やかなリズムとメロディのRod Modellとしては珍しい楽曲で、後のDelayarience（Rod Modell）名義での楽曲に至っては、かなりデトロイト・ハウス的な感じでもあり、そもそもヴァイナルでリリースされただけのことはあるという印象を受ける。一方、Mike Schommerも電車のリズムに金属のかすれるような音を交えたミニマル曲を多く提供しており、ダブテクノ特有のリズム感に固執した感じも薄い。Deepchordは「dcv07」より前のナンバーの楽曲として、CDで「Deepchord 01-06」をリリースしているが、こちらは、レゲエ寄りだったり、比較的オーソドックスなスタイルのダブテクノが多くBasic Channelに比較的近いが、そこからやや自由なスタイルを求めてフロアに飛び出し、「dcv07」以降のヴァイナルのリリースにつながった雰囲気は感じられる。

Deepchord is now known to be a leading figure of Dub Techno world, and their EPs of 2000’s are being remastered and are collected in a form of an album. The Vinyl version of this album has been released prior to the release of the CD version. The members of Deepchord in 2000’s were Rod Modell and Mike Schommer -who has left the group later-, and each of the two has provided separate tracks for the EPs released under the name of Deepchord. EP titles of “dcv07”, “dcv08”, and “dcv09” are included in the album, and the tracks for the CD version line up as follows.

The track order of the CD version differs from that of the Vinyl version, and it starts with Imax’s track of relatively standard Dub Techno style. The Vinyl version’s first track is Von Schommer’s track which has an atmospheric mood but, rather on a hard minimal side. I do not actually know the reason why the track order has been changed in the CD version, but it could be thought that it has been done so to fit better to the listening style of CDs in general. Then for the third track, Rod Modell’s track with jaunty rhythm and lines, which are not so much like of his style follows. It becomes quite understandable that these tracks are released in a Vinyl format originally, when you listen to Delayarience’s (i.e. Rod Modell’s) tracks that basically sound Detroit House oriented. Moreover, many of the Mike Schommer’s tracks sound like hard Minimal Techno of train’s rattling rhythm and scraping metal sounds; and seems slightly detached from the typical Dub Techno’s rhythm style. Prior to the Vinyl EP, “dcv07”, Deepchord had a CD released under the title, “Deepchord 01-06”. There I find are Dub Techno tracks of well-acquainted Reggae rhythms with cold and foggy atmosphere, which is close to Basic Channel’s sound, but it is good to see that their tracks gain more freedom in style as they release the tracks in Vinyl formats following this CD.
